Punta Cana Beach, Dominican Republic, Caribbean

Punta Cana is part of the Punta Cana-Bávaro-Veron-Macao municipal district, in the municipality of Higüey, in La Altagracia Province, the easternmost province of the Dominican Republic. The area has beaches and balnearios which face both the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, and it has been a popular tourist destination since the 1970s.

While the name applies to the entire 50km beach-fronted destination, Punta Cana is also the name of the beach where the area’s resort tourism got its international start when Club Med Punta Cana opened in 1978. The promise of white sands and turquoise-colored waters continues to be delivered here.
